Plush Rock Art Show

Sporting a retro-styled AC/DC t-shirt, an Aussie accent and some funky platform light-up sneakers, graphic designer and artist Emily Connell resembled a true rock star at the opening reception for her show, Plush Rock Art Show. Connell brought classic rock music to life with 3-D hand sewn sculptures of vinyl record art from iconic bands such as The Clash, AC/DC and The Cramps to name a few.

Connell mentioned she was inspired to create the collection of record art after creating a sculpture of her favorite band, Audit In Progress, album art work, “Hot Snake” for a friend’s birthday.¬†With the intricate details and impeccable craftsmanship displayed in each sculpture, its hard to believe the self-taught seamstress took on average a month to create each piece.

The collection will be on display at the Fall Brewing Company for a month, where ironically Connell recreated brewery co-owner Dave Lively original album art work for the band, Rocket From The Crypt. If you are in the North Park area, grab a beer with a friend and check out the collection!
